We have already reported about the Suzuki Gixxer SF ABS brochure being leaked on the internet. Now, the bookings for the new variant of the motorcycle have begun ahead of the official announcement.
Suzuki dealerships in Bangalore revealed that the bookings are open for a token amount of Rs 1,000 for the ABS variant of the Gixxer SF. Suzuki is likely to launch the motorcycle within a week and deliveries will begin in around ten days.
Suzuki will offer the ABS safety feature in the FI (Fuel Injected) variant of the Gixxer SF. However, the standard model is also expected to get ABS at a later stage. The motorcycle will also get new SP colour scheme.
The Gixxer SF will be the first motorcycle in its segment to get ABS. But it will be a single-channel ABS fitted on the front wheel, similar to the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. The motorcycle will also get new three-tone paint scheme with new SP logo.
On the mechanical front, the Gixxer SF will continue to draw power from a 154.9cc engine producing 14.8bhp and 14Nm of torque. The ABS variant is likely to gain 1kg to 2k of weight.
The pricing of the Gixxer SF ABS is not yet revealed, but according to dealers, it is expected to be priced around Rs 1.2 lakh on-road.
Suzuki Gixxer SF will be the first motorcycle in its segment to be equipped with ABS. None of its competitors offer this safety feature even as an option. ABS will be mandatory from April 2018 and Suzuki is providing the safety net of ABS before its implementation in the country.
