Royal Enfield will introduce the new variant of the Thunderbird 500 christened as Thunderbird 500X. The new motorcycle has been spotted at a dealership, and Rushlane has got hold of the images of the new motorcycle in its production avatar.

The Thunderbird 500X will be offered in new colour schemes such as electric blue, candy red, white and yellow. The engine, exhaust and suspension are finished in matte black which gives the motorcycle an all-new look. The foot pegs are front-set, and the handlebar is much flatter.
The motorcycle is equipped with ten-spoke alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres which render a sporty look to the Thunderbird 500X. The newly designed seat and flatter handlebar will result in a relaxed riding posture much like a true-blue cruiser. The rear fender has been slightly modified.
The headlamp and tail lamp units are borrowed from the standard Thunderbird 500, and it features LED DRL and LED tail light. The exhaust muffler appears to be new, and it is a bit longer than the standard model. The pillion backrest has been given a miss for a cruiser look. Braking duties are handled by discs at both the ends
The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X will draw power from the existing 500cc single cylinder engine producing 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Apart from that, there are no changes done to the new Thunderbird 500X.

Royal Enfield is finally giving a makeover to its popular Thunderbird 500 and will introduce the new variant named as Thunderbird 500X. We expect the new motorcycle to be launched in January 2018 or it might be showcased at the Auto Expo in February. The overall looks of the Thunderbird 500X are similar to the Triumph Bonneville which will be a crucial factor in the sales of the motorcycle. The Thunderbird 500X is likely to carry a price tag of around Rs 2 lakh ex-showroom.
