Former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden's condition is still serious after the cycling accident in Italy. The rider is in intensive care and has no improvements in his condition.
Former MotoGP champion and Honda World Superbike rider Nicky Hayden suffered serious injury in a cycling accident. And the rider is still in a critical condition.
The impact of the crash has damaged the brain of the American rider. He has also suffered other injuries and fracture. Hayden was riding a bicycle with his friends when he collided with a car in Italy.
Hayden is receiving treatment in the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena. The hospital released a statement and said that the rider is in intensive care and condition has not improved.
The statement read, "The situation is stable. The clinical picture remains extremely serious and compared to the previous day there have been no changes."
Hayden's mother Rose and younger brother Tommy joined him on the bedside. His girlfriend Jackie and members from Honda Superbike team are with him at the hospital.
MotoGP riders also paid homage to Hayden ahead of this weekend's French GP. A sign was displayed at the pre-event press conference on May 18, 2017. Valentino Rossi said, "It's a great shame because Nicky is a great rider, a great talent, a world champion and always at the top, but especially a very good guy."
Rossi added, "Coming from a good family of racers, from his father to his two brothers, always a good guy, always smiling, so it's very bad. But everybody, we hope for the best."
