Piaggio To Launch Electric Vespa In India During 2017?
Vespa is planning to manufacture the Vespa Elettrica electric scooter concept and would launch it in Europe in 2017.
Piaggio recently showcased the Vespa Elettrica, an electric Vespa during EICMA 2016. Now, the Italian scooter manufacturer seems to have set sight on India to launch the vehicle.
The Vespa Elettrica is result of the company's interest in electric mobility. The electric scooter was showcased as a concept at EICMA, but the company is ready to put the project to production.
On the design front, the Vespa Elettrica retains it classic retro styling, unique to Vespa. The Elettrica will have a full metal body similar to the ones sold in India currently, but the major change will be the engine — an all electric motor.
Vespa has been quiet about the electric motor's power output, range, and charging options. The Italian company is looking to launch the electric Vespa in Europe in 2017.
So will Vespa launch the electric scooter in India? We certainly hope Vespa would. India is concentrating on electric mobility as well and if Vespa mages to launch it here, the company could very well have a head start.
