'Make In India' BMW G310R Shown Off At Auto Expo
Design
The roadster looks aggressive and sporty, the front end is low and hawkish, and the tail unit is short and kicked up. The bike is agile and dynamic, even with a long swing arm, it has a short wheelbase, which makes it easy to ride on roads. With the seat height at 785mm, it makes it comfortable for riders of different stature.
Performance
The liquid cooled 4-stroke engine, which is a single cylinder 313cc punches with a 6-speed transmission of 34bhp @9,500 and torque of 28Nm @7,500, which takes off even during cornering, a clear performance, keeping the city riders in mind. A backward sloping engine to help the bike find centre of gravity. All these powers comes to a standstill with the 300mm and 240mm discs, front and rear respectively.
Ride & Handling
The telescopic front shocks and directly-mounted spring strut adjustable monoshocks for the rear, along with the upright handlebars, gives the G310R a great riding and handling experience. BMW Motorrad has developed the bike for the world market and it mainly helps in the ultimate experience of roads in India.
Features
The bike will come with ABS and will have the fully-faired sportbike feel and maybe even a GS Adventure version as an add on to the initial launch. The instrument cluster is a clear LCD and has easy-to-use controls. The bike will come with Strato Blue Metallic, Cosmic Black, Pearl White Metallic colour options.
Verdict
The bike will directly compete with KTM 390 - which has big fan base in India - of course the KTM has a better bhp and torque and they have got the pricing right which is the mainstay of the KTM's premium motorcycle. The G310R is from the BMW Motorrad stable and the badge itself will be a selling point. The company has to get the pricing right and expected to be around the two lakh range and will be available in India later this year.
