'Make In India' BMW G310R Shown Off At Auto Expo

BMW Motorrad are showcasing their latest street bike the G310R at the 2016 Auto Expo. The bike is designed by BMW but will be manufactured by TVS in India.

Engine and Gearbox Details

The cylinder head of the engine on the G310R has been reversed which allows the inlet tract to be positioned at the front of the motor while also allowing the exhaust exit to face the rear.

The G310R sends its power to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox via chain drive. The bike weighs in at 158 kilograms with its 11-litre fuel tank fully loaded.

Suspension and Brakes

The BMW G310R features telescopic forks with 140mm suspension travel at the front while at the rear a mono shock with 131mm travel takes care of the bumps and curves.

Braking is done by a radial mounted 4-piston caliper, 300mm disc and by a 240mmm floating disc with a single piston.

Design

Style wise, the G310R borrows quite a bit from its more powerful siblings.

The headlight and the front shroud are reminiscent of the R 1200R. The angular sides panels look similar to the ones seen on the S 1000R and combined with the muscular tank give the G 310R quite an aggressive look.
