TVS Draken In Showrooms Of Indonesia
TVS Motors India had revealed a concept motorcycle called the Draken at the 2014 Auto Expo held in New Delhi. The Indian manufacturer has realised that there is growth in the quarter-litre bike segment. The Draken is their attempt at introducing a street fighter in the 250cc segment.
The concept has made its way to Indonesia and was seen displayed in a particular showroom. Perhaps TVS wants to take the feedback of other markets to improve its production model. The prototype has been produced solely by the Indian manufacturer.
TVS has tied up with BMW and are working on a common bike just like Bajaj and KTM, where they built one bike and shared parts to keep it affordable. BMW also wants to tap the quarter-litre segment, where a huge amount of bikes are being sold in developing nations.

TVS will provide the Draken with a 250cc single cylinder, it will sport DOHC and four valves. The engine will be capable of producing 23 Nm of peak torque along with 38.5 horsepower, and will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
TVS had showcased the Draken in a matte white paint job. It has sharp and muscular lines across the body of the street fighter. It has an off-set rear shock just as seen on the Kawasaki 650r, it also sports a mid exhaust and a single seat. All of these may not make it to the production bike, though kudos to TVS for a job well done.
The Draken production model is said to be ready by mid-2015. It is a long time away, nevertheless it will be an interesting option in the 250cc segment. The quarter-litre market has Honda's CBR250R, Kawasaki's Ninja and Hyosung's GT250R. There are more interesting products coming in this year and the Indian customer is sure to be spoiled for choice.
