MotoGP Assen 2014 Qualifying Result
There is only one race in the MotoGP calendar that is not held on Sunday. The Iveco Daily TT Assen Grand Prix has always been contested on a Saturday as Sunday is considered to be Sabbath. So today Moto3 will begin at 14:30, while MotoGP red lights will go out at 17:30 IST.
Assen is known to be unpredictable and new winners always emerge. The track layout helps Yamaha more than any other manufacturer. However, yesterday Yamaha secured the pole position and it wasn't the factory nor the satellite team. It was the open class NGM Forward Racing Yamaha ridden by Aleix Espargaro, that will start the race from pole.

Marc Marquez was roughly one second slower than the leader in second place, however, he could have been faster provided the rains would stay away. It was same for all the riders and could not set a fast lap due to rain showers. Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa will start the race from third place on the grid.

Satellite Ducati rider of Pramac Racing Andrea Iannone was again the fastest rider among the Ducati powered machines in fourth. Britain's Cal Crutchlow managed to secure the fifth fastest time just before the downpour could commence.

Yamaha Movistar rider's would like to forget their qualifying session as it was a disaster. Spain's Jorge Lorenzo was the best factory rider for Yamaha in ninth place. While his Italian team mate Valentino Rossi suffered the most and was not able to set a fast lap and slipped down to 12th position.
The Assen GP will be held today on Saturday and we expect there could be rain and a new winner of the race today. Rossi won the race last year while fighting with Marc Marquez.

The Italian Valentino Rossi cannot be counted out on his Yamaha. It will also be interesting to see how the Open Class bike of Aleix Espargaro perform in rains as the have no electronic in the wet weather.
