Hero MotoCorp Planning A New Facility In South India

Hero MotoCorp had earlier announced that it would be setting up a facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Indian manufacturer plans to launch itself in South America by 2016. Before the Indian manufacturer does that, it plans to open a new facility in India.

Hero MotoCorp plans to open its new facility in the South of India. This will be the Indian manufacturer's sixth plant in India. Hero MotoCorp is India's largest maker and seller of two wheelers domestically.

The new facility in South India will be capable of producing approximately two million vehicles. The new plant will aid Hero MotoCorp to increase its annual capacity to 12 million vehicles per year.

Pawan Munjal, Managing Director and CEO of Hero MotoCorp told our source, "We are looking to set up a plant in South India. It will be utilised to service the market there. We are scouting for land at the moment."

The Indian manufacturer has not confirmed the exact location of its new facility. They have also not confirmed when the new facility will be ready. However, Hero MotoCorp had earlier set a target of ten million vehicles for 2017.

Hero MotoCorp currently has three plants in action Gurgaon, Daruhera which is in Haryana and Haridwar in Uttarakhand. The fourth plant is ready in Neemrana, Rajasthan. While the fifth facility is still in construction phase and is located at Halol, Gujarat.
