Triumph Motorcycles India Begin Operations On November 28
The decision has at last been made. After a nearly two years delay UK's largest two wheeler manufacturer, Triumph Motorcycles is all set to open for business in India, starting November 28.
Triumph Motorcycles was initially expected to make its entry into India in 2011. The dates got postponed more than once, but this time it is the real deal.

The company already has a fully functional facility in Manesar, Haryana, which will most probably take up most of the burden in the beginning until its new manufacturing plant in Narasapura Bangalore is ready (or perhaps it already is. No one knows yet).

Triumph Motorcycles' India operations will be headed by Vimal Sumbly, who was formerly GM of Sales at Bajaj Auto. The company is likely to begin operations by providing assembled bikes, but will later move on to production of certain models from scratch locally.

Key to its success in India will be low displacement, affordable models such as the recently spotted baby Triumph Speed Triple naked street bike look alike, mentioned earlier. No official details about the product lineup has been revealed yet, but we expect Triumph's offering to begin with an Rs 5 lakh or even sub Rs 5 lakh model.

These are the start of good times for motorcycles enthusiasts in India. Besides Triumph, Bajaj will also be launching the largest Pulsar in the family. BMW and TVS are developing entry level premium bikes and KTM will expand its lineup in the coming months. Even Hero will enter the fray with premium bikes in 2014.
