Hero Impulse With Larger Engine, Niche Bikes Coming In 2014
Hero's recently revealed extensive product upgrade spanning across its entire lineup was just the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the history of the world's largest two wheeler manufacturer.
Its been two years since Hero and Honda parted ways and the former created a new global identity for itself with the ‘Hero MotoCorp' name. The challenging part was to develop full fledged R&D programs from scratch, which includes the development of the first indigenously developed engines. Not to mention, new motorcycles that will appeal to a global audience.

The first fruits of the Hero's solo endeavour will bear fruits in 2014, with the launch of all new models, built on new platforms and entirely new engines. The first of these motorcycles will be unveiled at the Indian Auto Expo in Feb 2014.
Speaking to Telegraph India Hero's MD and CEO Pawan Munjal has revealed plans to launch premium bikes catering to a niche segment in India and abroad. One of the bikes belonging to this segment will be the new Impulse.
Hero Impulse was first launched in 2011. It was the company's first product bearing the Hero MotoCorp name. The semi off-roader was well received by enthusiasts and reviewers, some even calling it the best two wheeler for Indian roads. However, in terms of sales the 150cc bike failed to make an impression. As a result production of Impulse was discontinued in 2012.
Pawan Munjal has now confirmed that the Impulse will make a comeback in 2014 powered by a larger engine. Besides being more powerful the bike will be redesigned from the ground up. Erik Buell Racing is playing a vital role in redeveloping the new Impulse.
The all new Impulse will then be launched not just in India, but also in Latin America where customers have a thirst for semi-off roaders. Besides the larger engine, the new Impulse will also be available with the old 149.2cc engine.
