Indian Motorcycles Launch In India On January 22

Indian Motorcycles, which revived its product lineup with a brand new engine and three new models earlier this year in the United States earlier, will make its way to India on January 22, 2014.

America's oldest two wheeler manufacturing company and the world's largest motorcycle company at one time, Indian is currently owned by ATV major, Polaris Industries.

Indian Motorcycles offers only three products at present and it will bring all three of those model to India. These are, the Indian Chief Classic, the Chief Vintage and the Indian Chieftain. All three are basically the same motorcycle, but offer additional features as one goes higher up the variant.

All three models are powered by the brand new Thunder Stroke 111 engine. The engine is a large 1819cc unit (The 111 stands for 111 cubic inches displacement) and develops a massive 161 Nm of peak torque right at 3000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6 speed transmission.

Indian produces premium products where even the entry level Chief Classic model offers ABS, cruise control, premium leather seats and keyless entry as standard features. This model is sold for $18,999 in the U.S which is approximately INR 11.83 lakhs.

The Chief Vintage, with its soft leather bags comes for $20,999 (INR 13.08) and the top end variant, the Indian Chieftain, with its hard luggage cases, with quick release and Bluetooth audio system, sells for $22,999 (INR 14.33 lakhs). Indian will arrive in January 2014.
