Bajaj Launches New Boxer 150 Bharath Bike

Bajaj Auto which had recently unveiled its Boxer 150 utility bike has finally revealed the official specifications and features. Bajaj has officially named the 150cc Boxer as the BM 150 and has removed the Bajaj name from it. Bajaj has launched the new motorcycle with a starting price of Rs.43,247 (ex-showroom, Chennai). The new Utility bike is set to enter showrooms soon.

R. Chandrasekar, General Manager, Marketing and Sales of Bajaj Auto spoke to media persons about the new Boxer 150. He described Bajaj's latest product as the Bharath Bike. He added the current 100cc bikes sold in rural markets were not built to handle the tough road conditions and do not have the load lugging capabilities. The new Boxer 150 promises to deliver all these but with a cheaper price than the 100cc bikes.

The new Boxer 150 gets the same 150cc engine found in the Discover 150. the only difference is the Boxer does not get the DTSi technology. Yet the engine can churn out 11.8bhp at 7500rpm and 12.26Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The engine is paired with a four speed manual gear box that has been tuned to deliver optimum pulling rather than accelerating to a top speed.

The new Boxer's design is nothing revolutionary or even evolutionary. Bajaj has retained much of the old boxer's design features. The headlight is slightly different. The focus of the design has been on function rather than form. The practicality of the new Boxer has been enhanced by its long seat and rear luggage carrier.
