Top Gear's The Stig's Identity Revealed?
Some say, the latest Stig is actually former British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden. That's right, the identity of the current Stig may well have been revealed by fans of BBC UK's Top Gear.
The Stig is a mysterious driver who appears on the TV show wearing white racing suit and helmet. The Stig is employed by Top Gear UK mostly to set lap times around the Top Gear test track and sometimes outside of it.
However, the identity of The Stig is always kept a secret. It is part of the shows popular aura. In fact, if the identity of The Stig is revealed the man behind the helmet is released from duty, as was the case with the previous two Stigs.
The Daily Mail was the first to report about the identity of The Stig. The basis for the rumor are two appearances made by Gordon Shedden. The first was in a video where he drives Top Gear's Honda Mean Mower. The second time was in the second episode of Top Gear Season 20, in which Shedden drives the Indian HM Ambassador taxi to victory in the World's Best Taxi race. These appearances led several viewers to suggest Gordon Shedden was indeed The Stig.
Gordon Shedden himself has not accepted anything, but neither has he denied it. "I don't think anyone can say that. At the end of the day, it is just a person in a white suit. It's more about the myth about Stig than who it is," Shedden has said.
