Nurburgring Crash Compilation Video Makes For A Compelling Watch
Nurburgring, the infamous racing circuit near Frankfurt Germany, is also referred to by its other name - The Green Hell. It is called so for a very good reason. Nurburgring or The Ring has claimed more lives than any other race track in the world.
Accidents happen here all the time. More than one every day. While most of them are minor the more severe ones are quite common as well. While official figures are never revealed many estimates suggest at least one fatal accident happens every year. Even going by modest estimates more than a 100 racers have lost their lives in accidents while lapping The Green Hell.

There are several reason why Nürburgring is so treacherous. If you take into consideration the entire length of The Ring, which is an incredible 28 km long, there are an incredible 187 corners. That's way too many turns for almost any driver to remember.

The vastness of the circuit also means not every section has been provided with adequate safety features. Several parts of the track have hardly any barrier and in some places if a racer were to crash through a barrier he or she will head straight into a rock face instead of a wall of tyres or foam. The complexity of the track is makes it one of the most challenging in the world for even the most experienced racer.
The video below is a compilation of car and motorcycle crashes from Nurburgring. In particular, most of the crashes in this 8 min long video are from around the Brünnchen (meaning "Little Well") section of the track, shown in the Google Map image above. According to Nurburgring explorer, "there are always a lot of accidents here because people try to show off for the crowd."
None of the crashes seen in the video are major and are the result of vehicle either taking too much speed at the corner or due to rain. All the crashes seen in the video are from this year and gives you a fair picture of the dangerous involved while racing in a circuit as notorious as the Nurburgring.
