Man Gets Back Stolen Car After 33 Years
Having your car stolen can be truly tragic, but a small minority do actually get their cars back eventually. But getting it back after 33 years? Well, that is exactly what happened to a George Talley, who retook possession of his car recently, more than three decades after it was stolen.

Talley's 1979 Chevrolet Corvette was nicked from Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, where he had left it parked way back in 1981. He obviously had resigned to the fact that his car had long gone.

The story continues on the next slide.

Imagine his surprise then, when his insurance company, AAA, called him on June 13 with news that authorities had found his car and it was now sitting in a police station 840 miles away in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Talley, now 71, was reunited with his Corvette on Tuesday at the General Motors headquarters in Detroit. Incidentally, the GM headquarters is only three miles from where the car was stolen all that time ago.

GM Product Development Executive Vice President Mark Reuss, who offered to ship the car from Mississippi when he heard of this incredible story, said that " the car belonged home in Detroit, with its rightful owner."

GM says that the 1979 Chevrolet Corvette was Talley's favourite, despite him owning three other Corvettes.
