Speeding Mahindra XUV 500 Topples After Ramming Into Scooter, Killing The Scooter Rider

Accidents are not out of the ordinary in a country like India, with millions of vehicles on the roads being driven by people, most of who do not have not been taught to drive/ride properly. The result is, thousands of accidents happening on our roads, and one such accident occurred in New delhi earlier this week.

The Fatal incident took place in the national capital, and ended with a bicycle rider having a narrow escape, a scooter rider losing his life and a Mahindra XUV 500 landing on its roof in a huge storm drain.

The driver of the Mahindra XUV 500 has been accused in the accident and closed circuit camera footage shows why. The Mahindra XUV 500 is clearly seen speeding towards a busy intersection, and continues to accelerate even after ramming into the scooter, flinging the scooter rider in the air. Reports say that the scooter rider was killed on the spot.

The flagship SUV from Mahindra is then seen slowing down, but as it turns out, it wasn't enough. The XUV 500 rams into a concrete wall of a huge storm drain which then breaks, plunging the vehicle into the drain. The XUV 500 landed on its roof, injuring the driver.

The driver however, managed to escape from the scene despite his injuries. Police later arrested him, and accused him of rash driving leading to death. Police also claimed that he had jumped the red signal.

Accidents cannot be prevented just by creating safe roads and safe cars, as the XUV 500 is a pretty safe car, complete with ABS, EBD and the like. However, common sense, and road sense play a larger part in making roads a safer place. People need to be educated in road safety and road manners, and only then would we see a change in the accident numbers.
