“Guardian of the Skies” Game To Woo Youth Into Indian Air Force

By Santosh

The Indian Air Force launched a 3D game for mobile phones in an effort to woo current-generation youth into joining the Air Force. The launch of game, called "Guardian Of The Skies" was seen as a ‘significant milestone' in the efforts of encouraging youth to join the IAF.

"It is indeed a significant milestone in our consorted campaign to connect to the best of the boys and the girls among the nation's youth and motivate them to join the air force so as to become great patriotic men and women ready to serve the country in any situation," Air Marshal S Sukumar said.

He added that while the IAF was getting the numbers when it came to applicants, it was important that the "best of the boys and girls" join the Air Force.

The new game was developed by an independent private vendor after an earlier open tender process. The first phase of the game was launched on Thursday while the second phase will follow suit in October.

The game runs along a story line in which the Indian Air Force is involved in missions defending the country against Zaruzia, a fictitious enemy state that is politically and economically unstable with a military coup having taken place in its past.

It remains to be seen how well this game will work to achieve its target. But entering the virtual world was the best thing the IAF could do in this regard.
