Volkswagen India Supports Wings For Life Foundation World Run
Volkswagen India extended its support for the Wings for Life World Run, a global marathon run for charity that was held on Sunday, 4th May. Volkswagen SUVs were the official ‘Catcher Cars' or support vehicles.

Under the banner slogan "Running for those who can't," more than 50,000 registered participants, from 164 countries, kicked off with simultaneous starts on 34 long-distance routes, in 32 countries, on 6 continents! The aim of the World Run was to raise funds for spinal cord research through the Wings for Life charity.

In India, the Wings for Life World Run was started at 3:30 p.m. in Sonipat, Haryana. The run was supported by the Government of Haryana and the Haryana Olympics Association.

Among the thousands of participants were athletes such as Ashwini Ponnappa (badminton doubles player), Tania Sachdev (Woman Grandmaster), Olympian Yogeshwar Dutt, Arjuna awardee Rajkumar Sangwan, former captains of Indian women's hockey team Pritam Rani Siwach and Mamta Kharab, Commonwealth Games gold medalist Anisha Syed, and Arjuna awardee in wrestling Rajender Kumar.
