Volkswagen Beetle Sub-Brand Rumors; Production Dune, E-Bugster & Bulli

By Ganesh

New rumours coming from Germany say that Volkswagen is looking to turn the Beetle into a separate sub-brand. The Beetle, which is a historic model, has traditionally been offered only in two-door and four-door forms. But in a bid to cash in on the popularity of the nameplate Volkswagen could extend the line-up.

If indeed the Beetle is turned into a sub-brand we could seen the launch of several new models ranging from a sporty coupe to a soft off-roader to minivan/crossover. What's interesting about this rumour is that all these models already exist, albeit in concept form.

The rumored Beetle sub-brand would exclusively stand for retro-style products, all of which will most definitely be based on VW's MQB platform, like the yet to be announced next-gen Beetle.
