Volkswagen GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo For Worthersee
Volkswagen will be bringing a Golf GTI concept to Worthersee this time as well, only this one is more of a supercar than a hot hatch. It's called the GTI Roadster, Vision Gran Turismo (the comma's part of the name).
Powering the car is a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo VR6 TSI engine, rated at 496 horsepower and an incredible 665 Nm of torque. This engine is, in fact, an updated version of the engine from last year's Design Vision GTI Concept.

While the power output remains the same, the torque figure has gone up by 105 Nm.
Naturally, the is "ferociously fast" as VW puts it, which is complemented by a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and a 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
Then there's the aerokit that's necessary for a car of this calibre. This consists of a front splitter, rear diffuser and a large rear spoiler.

Making contact with the road would be 20-inch wheels wrapped in 235/35 front and 275/30 rear tyres and equipped with 381mm and 356mm vented disc brakes at the front and back respectively.
Lastly, metallic red exterior colour is what VW call a "modern interpretation of the classic GTI color."

As much as you and we would love to see a supercar-like hatchback roadster exist in real life, it's just not cost effective for a company to enter it into production. This is where Sony's Gran Turismo video comes in, proving the next best experience of cars that cannot exist in the real world.
Nevertheless, it would still be great if the one-off model that Volkswagen will bring to Worthersee next week is a working model. We can't wait to see how the car will look in its metal and carbon fiber form.
