"The natural gas engine is an important element in the ŠKODA sustainability strategy and and is now making its way into our best-selling model series," says Dr. Frank Welsch, ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development. "Using CNG technology makes sense, as it combines environmentally-friendly mobility with affordability. The Octavia G-TEC is making our Octavia series even more attractive and eco-friendly."

Octavia G-TEC is powered by a turbocharged 1.4 liter TSI petrol engine rated at 110 HP.

The EU6 compliant engine emits 97g/km of CO2. Skoda claims the Octavia G-TEC requires 5.4 cubic metres of natural gas per 100km or 3.5kg of CNG.

On CNG alone, the Octavia G-TEC can deliver a range 410 km which can extend to 1330 km with the combined use of petrol.

The Octavia G-TECH also gets stop-start and regenerative braking. Pricing is yet to be announced.
