McLaren P13 To Come In Three Body Styles

By Ganesh

McLaren only got into the business of making cars full time just three years back and in that short span of time it has already moved into profitability and has a clear cut plan to launch several new models, covering different categories.

The next car in line for launch is an entry level model codenamed P13. It is now been revealed that the P13 will come in three body styles. While the first two would be coupe and convertible/spyder, it is the third that sounds interesting.

The P13 will also be available in a GT variant, which makes it clear that McLaren is serious about becoming a mainstream global player.

Car&Driver, which broke the information, has learnt from its source that the GT version of the car will have an unconventional design, who stated the car "looks more like an E-type than the Jaguar F-type does." The P13 GT will also sport an unconventional trunk to storage luggage.

It could be interesting to see how the car actually looks, considering the P13 shares the same carbon fiber composite monocoque chassis as the 750S and the P1.

McLaren P13 will be powered by the company's 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine in a lower state of tune. With an expected power delivery of under 500 horsepower, the P13 would go up against the likes of the Jaguar F-Type, Porsche 911 and Audi R8.

McLaren P13 is expected to make its global debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
