McLaren, Honda F1 Partnership Exclusive Till 2016
Honda will return to Formula 1 in 2015, not as a team, but as an engine supplier. This is something that we all know. We also know that the team that will be powered by Honda's engine will be its erstwhile partner McLaren.
The latest news in this regard is that McLaren will be the exclusive customer of Honda, not just in 2015, but at least till 2016. According to news coming from Pipass, Yasuhisa Arai, the man heading Honda's motorsports division, told reporters during last week's Chinese Grand Prix that Honda will not be supplying engines to any other team till 2016.
Nothing was said about whether or not new suppliers other than McLaren would be welcomed after 2016.

Currently, McLaren gets its engine from Mercedes-Benz, a long partnership that has existed since 1995. But the team's best years were with Honda in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
For four years, from 1988 till 1991, the Honda powered McLaren F1 cars won both the driver's and constructors championships. Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Gerhard Berger were the drivers during this time.
Considered to be one of the most successful partnership in F1, much like the existing Renault-Red Bull team, Honda is hoping to recreate the magic upon its return to the premier motorsport racing championship next year post its exit in 2008.
