Jaguar XK To Be Discontinued By Summer’s End
Even as Jaguar plans to diversify into different segments with the announcement of the upcoming XE, the BMW 3-Series rival, the company has reportedly announced it will discontinue production of the XK range by the end of this summer.
Jaguar XK is or rather was the automaker's flagship performance and sports GT model since its launch in 1996. However, with the coming of the Jaguar F-Type the XK suddenly lost its relevance. This was not decided by the automaker, but by consumers.

The F-Type falls under a different category being less expensive, smaller and less luxurious. However, consumers have stopped seeing it that way resulting in F-Type sales eating into Jaguar XK's.
The automaker is said to have sold less than 4000 units of the XK in 2013 and it is only expected to go down with the coming of the F-Type coupe.
Jaguar XK, a 2+2 seater, that's equivalent to a BMW 6-Series or the Mercedes SL-Class, could however, get a replacement reports Autocar UK, though nothing is confirmed.
The said replacement, if it comes, will be positioned, not as an out and out sports/GT car since this position will henceforth be filled by the F-Type coupe, but as a larger high performance flagship luxury car. Something Jaguar design director Ian Callum had hinted at in 2012.
