Renault Duster 4WD Indonesia Launch In Sept; To be Exported From India

Renault-Nissan Alliance's Chennai manufacturing facility, which currently exports Dacia badged Duster 4X4 variants to the United Kingdom, will soon increase production to accommodate exports to Indonesia.

Renault Indonesia has planned to launch the Duster 4X4 in that country during the month of September.

At present, the Duster is only sold with the 85 horsepower, 1.5-litre dCI engine in Indonesia. The Duster 4X4, on the other hand, will come with the 110 horsepower version of the 1.5-litre diesel powerplant. This higher-torque engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Duster 4X4 has a particularly good chance of doing well in Indonesia as it will be the most affordable four-wheel-drive SUV in the Southeast Asian country.

Chennai is the only place in the world where right-hand drive version of the Duster 4X4 is manufactured and has thus been selected as the manufacturing base for export to Indonesia.

India itself will not have to wait too long for the all-wheel drive Duster as it is headed our way this year.
