Renault Duster 4X4 India Launch Date Confirmed: Rumour
We have for long looked forward to the 4WD variant of the Duster coming to India. That day might be near if a new report is to be believed. According to the report, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, MD and CEO, Renault India has confirmed the all-wheel drive Renault Duster will be launched in India before the end of the year.
Renault Duster, launched in India in 2012, has been the single most high selling model for the French automaker, allowing the company to establish itself in the country. The best-selling compact SUV at one time, sales of the Duster is now slowly being eroded by Ford EcoSport and Mahindra Scorpio.

At this point in time Renault believes introducing the all-wheel drive variant will help in improving Duster sales.
The Duster 4WD is already in production at Renault-Nissan's joint Chennai manufacturing facility. The all-wheel drive Duster produced here is exported to the U.K. and a few other European nations where they are sold wearing the Dacia badge.
In the U.K, the 4WD Duster is offered in both the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, mated to a 6-speed transmission. However, India is only expected to get the 107 horsepower, 240 Nm diesel engine for the 4WD variant if indeed it is launched.
Compared to the 2WD version, the 4WD Duster has 5mm of extra ground clearance taking it to 210mm and also has an increased payload of 458 kg against 456 kg and a higher maximum towing weight of 660 kg against 615 kg of the 2WD Duster.
Renault Duster 4WD will naturally be the most expensive variant of the compact SUV, positioned above the INR 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) 110 PS RxZ Option Pack trim. The Duster 4WD direct rival will be the 4WD variants of Mahindra Scorpio and XUV500.
