Ford's Alan Mulally: India Center Piece For Small Cars
Alan Mulally was in India recently to bid farewell to Ford employees at the company's Chennai manufacturing facility, during which time he also interacted with journalists.
Speaking about the company's future plans for India, Mulally stated that he has advised his successor to stick to the company's One Ford plan, which has to do with sharing platforms and models in Ford's markets across all world.
Mulally said that this structure has proved successful and would continue to drive Ford in the path of growth.

About India, he said that the country will become the center piece for small car research and development, as well as exports. The company is already exporting India built Figo and EcoSport models to 50 countries.
In the coming years, it is possible that Ford India will introduce a wider range of its global portfolio of products in India, from larger sedans to the F-Series pickup trucks. Something that would be made possible because of the One Ford plan.
Ford India‘s INR 4,000 crore worth second manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat is under construction and is expected to begin production towards the end of this year.
Alan Mulally also spoke about India's new Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and even said that he was one of his heros. "I have watched him over the years and I think he is going to be great prime minister because he believes in economic development. I love his focus on infrastructure," ET quotes Mulally as having said.
Alan Mulally, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Co is set step down at end of this month. His successor will be Mark Fields, who is now Chief Operating Officer.
