Ford EcoSport Price Hiked For The Second Time
The disastrous launch of the Ford EcoSport continues as the American manufacturer has hiked prices of the model yet again. Ford EcoSport was launched in June last year at an extremely competitive starting price, following plenty of hype and advertising that lasted months.

The launch strategy did work. People literally thronged in thousands to book the compact crossover. It seemed Ford had got everything right, but then we realised it haden't. The manufacturer had vastly underestimated demand, resulting in waiting periods that went up to 1 year. Ford advertised that it had received over 60,000 bookings, but was forced to stop accepting bookings.

To make matters worse Ford realised it could not sell the EcoSport at the prices it had promised during launch. The first major increase in price was announced in September last year and now for a second time.
Even worse is the fact that the price hike affects people who have already paid the booking amount. The only reconciliation perhaps is that upon cancellation of bookings Ford reimburses the entire amount.
Price hike in numbers
The base variant of the EcoSport now cost Rs 60,000 more than the launch price.
The base variant with the EcoBoost engine now costs Rs 61,000 more than launch price.
Price of the entry level automatic variant has increased by Rs 59,000 since launch.
The base diesel variant meanwhile now costs Rs 69,000 more than what was announced at during launch.
The increase in price only grows as we go higher up the variant ladder, with the top of the line diesel Titanium Optional now priced at INR 9.74 lakhs (ex-showroom), which is a whopping Rs 75,000 more than the launch price.
