Audi R8 V10 Plus India Launch On April 4th
What could be a better proof of Audi's success in India, particularly that of its high end supercar models, than the fact that the German owners of Lamborghini decided to launch three ultra expensive models of its R8 supercar in India earlier this year. Now, joining the R8 brigade in India will be the fastest of all the R8s, the R8 V10 Plus.
The 2013 Audi R8 V10 Plus has already made its debut in Europe and the United States. For its launch in India Audi has selected an apt location - Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida. The supercar launch has been scheduled for tomorrow.[Update: Launched]
Along with the R8 V10 Plus, the Indian lineup now includes 4 models, the other three are R8 V8 Coupe, R8 V10 Coupe and R8 V10 Spyder.
Audi R8 V10 Plus is powered by the Lamborghini sourced V10 engine that also features in the R8 Spyder and R8 V10 Coupe. However, it has been tweaked a bit.
The 5.2 liter V10 engine in the Plus offers higher performance. It now delivers 550 HP instead of 525 HP and 530 Nm of torque instead of 540 Nm. The Audi Quattro all wheel drive technology and the 7 speed S Tronic transmission have been maintained.
The Plus reaches 100 km/h from a standstill 0.1 seconds faster than the other V10 engined R8s, at 3.5 seconds and with a top speed of 317 km/h it is 3 km/h faster as well.
The R8 V10 Plus comes with subtle body modifications which set it apart from its siblings. These include the larger carbon fiber side air intake scoops, carbon fiber front splitter and front air intake, larger 19 inch alloy wheels, larger rear diffuser and twin exhaust outlets
While a regular R8 V10 Coupe sells in India goes for about INR 1.81 crores (post budget), the Plus model can be expected to have a premium of at least INR 25 lakhs more, touching the INR 2.0 crore mark.
