Ertiga Boosts Maruti Suzuki September Sales

Maruti Suzuki's sales for the month of September has increased by 9.8% thanks to the recently launched Ertiga. The leading Indian carmaker in its release has stated that it has sold a total of 93988 vehicles in September 2012 when compared to 85565 vehicles it sold in September 2011.

Maruti Suzuki's sales in the small car segment increased by 4.9% to 39150 units. This is expected to grew further up once Maruti Launches the new Alto 800. The super compact Swift DZire continues its positive sales story in September 2012. The carmaker has sold 11694 units of the DZire marking a 24.3% increase.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

The major contributor to Maruti Suzuki's sales being in the black in September 2012 is the recently launched MPV Ertiga. Maruti Suzuki's sales in the utility segment in September stood at 7,224 units when compared to just 412 units sold in the same month last year. Sales of Maruti Suzuki's vans Omni and Eeco rose 7.5% to 12620 units.

The effects of the lockout of the Manesar plant continue to to show themselves in Maruti Suzuki's sales. The company has stated that sales of its compact cars Swift, Estilo and Ritz fell by 9.7% to 17,813 units. Another segment in which Maruti Suzuki saw decline in sales in September 2012 is the executive sedan segment which has the imported Kizashi. Maruti Suzuki managed to sell just 12 Kizashis in September.

Maruti Suzuki has stated that its exports in September fell by 23.1% to 5,187 units. The A-star small car, also called as the Alto in the international market is the highest exported car by Maruti Suzuki.
