Honda Developing New Small Car; Launch In 2014
Earlier, there were reports that Honda is planning to launch a diesel variant of the Brio hatchback by end of 2012. Now the latest news is that the Japanese carmaker is developing a new small car to rival the likes of Tata Nano and Maruti Suzuki Alto.
The race in the small car market is getting hotter with Maruti Suzuki already said to be developing a highly fuel efficient diesel engine for its small cars. Meanwhile, Tata is also planning to launch a fuel efficient Nano diesel variant.
The new Honda small car is reportedly based on the Honda N600 and will measure about 133 inches in length and 58 inches in width. A similar concept with retro looks based on the N600 was showcased at last years Tokyo Motor Show of which the image has been given here.
The new car will feature a 660 cc VTEC four cylinder engine which generates about 64 hp. Expect the small car to be priced similar to that of the Nano and Alto - between Rs 2-3 lakh.
Other details of the car which is expected to be launched in 2014 are not known as of now. We will keep you updated with more details of the new small car from Honda.
