Maruti Suzuki has put high hopes on its First MPV, Ertiga and expects to conquer the market share in the segment. Currently, the only MPVs in the market are the hugely successful Toyota Innova and the well received Mahindra Xylo. Interestingly, 14 per cent of overall car sales in the Indian automotive sector accounts for the MPV segment.
People are already flocking to Maruti showrooms to book the Ertiga. The carmaker has already started taking in requests for test drives in its website. Expect to see The Ertiga inn full swing on a street near yiu as Maruti has already shipped quite a few units to all its showrooms. The dealers are waiting for its official launch to put the Ertiga on display.
Meanwhile, the Ertiga will have many more rivals in the coming times with the MPV race getting hotter by the arrival of new models. The other MPVs that are expected to hit the market soon are Nissan Evalia and Chevrolet Enjoy. Considering the price and seating capacity of the Ertiga, it can also be a hit in the taxi market.We will have to wait and see if Ertiga can repeat the magic which Maruti had done with its Swift compact hatchback.
