Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Sales Slide

In its statement Tata Motors said cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 256,799 nos., a growth of 4% over 247,381 nos., sold last year.
Commercial vehicle sales continued to grow registering a 14 per cent increase to 40,798 units. Passenger vehicle sales fell drastically in July to 30,166 units marking a 39 per cent decline. The Tata Nano, which is the world's cheapest car, saw it sales drop by a huge 64 per cent to 3,260 units. It may be recalled that demand for the Nano was very high during last year's July.
While cumulative sales of the Nano and the SUV range of cars such as the Safari, Sumo and Aria increased, passenger cars in the Indica and Indigo range declined considerably.
Tata Motor's British Luxury car brands also showed promise in the Indian market. While Tata's passenger vehicle sales continue to decline drastically, it is the carmaker's commercial vehicle division that is propping its sales.
