The tag line '25 naahin to kuch nahin' is also an open challenge to other carmakers to offer a car that has a better mileage. So far Tata Motors is the only carmaker to offer such a fuel economy. The eV2 and the eCS are powered by the CR4 Common Rail diesel engine that offers best possible performance without compromising on the fuel economy.

Tata Motors has managed to generate such mouth watering mileage figures for its cars by making some minor modifications to the CR4 common rail engine as well as reducing the car's weight by 10 kilos. The ARAI approved fuel economy of 25kmpl for the eV2 and the eCS has meant the closest competitor for these two cars is only the Chevrolet Beat diesel that has an ARAI approved fuel economy rating of 24kmpl.
