Hyundai's Eon: What We Like What We Don't

The Eon turned turned out to be a fun car to drive too. Its handling is perfect and the steering is accurate. The suspension is soft enough to take in the mild imperfections of the road but the larger ones seep in to your backside due to the small tyres and wheels. The only major concern that we encountered in the Eon is its braking at high speeds. It took a tad too long to come to a halt when brakes were applied at above 80kmph.
The gear shifts were quite unnerving too as we felt vibrations at all gear changes. The three cylinder engine is quite ordinary and the NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness) do not impress.
Hyundai's competitor and market leader Maruti Suzuki's trump card has always been its low price as well as inexpensive service costs. Hyundai has never tried to bring down its service costs and it remains the same for the Eon too. Hyundai has managed to bring out a car that is slightly inexpensive in the Eon, but the high service costs will have a greater impact on your wallet in the long term.
Conclusion:
The Hyundai Eon is a truly impressive car. It offers several firs for a car that is priced so low. It is a perfect city car with nimble handling and an impressive fuel economy of 21.1kmpl. The top end variant is slightly overpriced at 4.26 lakhs(ex-showroom, Bangalore). The exterior looks and the feel of the interior gets full marks. The ride comfort is fine considering we only managed to drive it on smooth city roads.
