Volkswagen Launches New Jetta at Rs.14.12 Lakhs

Volkswagen India has launched just the diesel version of the new Jetta, The German carmaker had earlier launched just the diesel version of the Passat sedan. It is highly unlikely that a petrol powered Jetta will be sold in the Indian market. The new car will be available in two variants – the base Trendline and the top end Highline variant.
The new Jetta will be powered by a two-litre common rail turbo diesel engine capable of generating 140bhp and 320Nm of torque. The Trendline gets a six speed manual gearbox while the Highline gets a six speed automatic DSG gearbox. The same engine is currently available in the Skoda Laura, Skoda Superb and the Volkswagen Passat. Volkswagen has not launched the fuel efficient BlueMotion engine in the new Jetta.
The new Jetta offers more space and leg room as it is 9cm longer and its wheel base has been extended by 7cm. The equipment list of the new Jetta includes ABS, EBD, Hill Hold and Electronic Stability Program(ESP). The Highline Jetta which is priced at Rs. 18 lakhs gets eight airbags. Buyers can also opt for a manual gear box for the Highline Jetta.
