Nissan Sunny Diesel Features In Detail
Interior:
The Sunny diesel"s interior also remains unchanged. The seats have plush materials and the carpets are thick and snug. What you will like most in the sunny is its space and leg room. Pull the driver"s seat back entirely and even then a six footer can sit behind the driver comfortably. The sunny is a very spacious car for four and pull up the middle arm rest and the rear bench seat can accommodate three adults well. Even the boot space is great with a wide 480 litres of space.
Technical Details:
The Sunny is powered by a new K9K diesel engine that has been jointly developed by Nissan and Renault. The engine has a ARAI certified fuel economy of 21.62kmpl. This when translated to on road conditions will mean a mileage of 20kmpl. Drivespark had earlier reported that the Sunny diesel will have a mileage of 20kmpl. The mileage might dip slightly in city driving conditions.
Nissan has said there were significant Indian inputs during the development of this K9K engine. It has also stated that this engine has been used for the first time in a Sunny anywhere in the world. The Sunny"s diesel engine can churn out 86PS at 3750rpm and a torque of 200Mn at 2000rpm. This is more than enough for a car that is destined to be driven as a family car.
Ride and Handling:
The Sunny has been built on Nissan"s global V platform which boasts of advanced engineering. This enables to car to have top notch handling and turning control. There will be a slight difference between how the Sunny"s petrol and diesel variants behave in terms of handling. The diesel engine will be slightly heavier and this additional weight will make the Sunny"s nose to dip more while braking. Independent front MacPherson struts with coil springs offer impeccable ride quality. Road and tyre noise is reduced b the use of sub-frame mounted suspensions and anti-roll bars at both ends.
Safety:
The Sunny Diesel carries high levels of active and passive safety features and technology designed to enhance both the driving and ownership experience. The most notable among them are the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Engine Immobilizer and the driver and passenger airbags.
Overall outlook:
Nissan managed to sell more than 3,000 units of the Sunny"s petrol variant from September at a time when demand for diesel cars was at the ratio of 80:20. The Sunny"s diesel variant will offer what the Indian car buyer is looking for in a sedan and at a price that very competitive. The styling both in the inside and outside has remained the same. The ride quality will also be top notch. The only niggle in the new Sunny is the interior noise of the engine. The petrol variant had an ever existing hum if the engine and the diesel variant will be no different. In fact the engine"s sound will be felt more in the diesel variant than in the petrol.
