GM India October Sales Gain Slightly

The Beat hatchback was the star performer with 5,328 sales taking more than half the sales. The spark small car raked in 1,797 sales while Chevrolet also managed to sell 732 units of the Cruze luxury sedan. Tavera, the American carmaker's multi purpose vehicle (MPV) saw 1,687 sales while the Captiva SUV managed 100 sales.
GM India Vice-President P Balendran said the carmaker managed to grow in terms of sales despite the sluggish market mostly due to its hatchback Beat diesel. He said: “We have been able to sustain the growth primarily due to the good sales of Chevrolet Beat Diesel which continues to be in good demand. We are planning to ramp up production of Beat Diesel to meet the growing demand for the product in the coming months."
Mr Balendra while speaking about the current market situation said: “The market continues to remain sluggish due to unprecedented hikes in interest rates, fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation and negative market sentiments. These factors are putting lot of pressure on the automobile market."
