2016 Auto Expo: Renault Kwid Gets A New 1-Litre Engine And AMT Gearbox
Renault has unveiled a brand new variant of the Renault Kwid with a 1.0-litre engine and an AMT gearbox at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Engine & Gearbox
The Renault Kwid 1.0-litre is powered by an all-new 1.0 SCe (Smart Control efficiency) engine with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The power torque and mileage figures of the new Kwid variant have not been revealed.
Sending the power to the front wheels will be a 5-speed AMT gearbox that Renault calls it the Easy-R gearshift. Renault claims they have derived the new gearbox with the help of their Formula One expertise. A 5-speed manual gearbox is also available with the 1.0-litre Kwid.

Design
The Renault Kwid 1-0 litre looks like a carbon copy of the 800cc model of the Kwid. The only major difference between the two cars are the side panels on the doors which feature the chequered flag along with the 1.0 badging and the Easy-R badging on the back of the AMT cars.
The AMT variants of the new 1.0-litre Kwid gets a dial on the dashboard and the car can be put into either neutral, drive or reverse. The gearbox dial is placed under the 4.1-inch touch-screen infotainment system and the A/C controls.
Availability & Rivals
Renault plans to take on the Alto K10 with the new variant of the Kwid and will bring the new Kwid 1.0-litre with both manual and Easy-R AMT to showrooms later this year.
