Yamaha R25 Concept Revealed At Tokyo Motor Show
With virtually every bike manufacturer competing to grab space for itself in emerging markets with small displacements bikes in India Yamaha could not have stayed out of the fray for too long.
The Japanese automaker already sells the R15, a 150c sports bike in India, but has no other machine to further expand its clout. Enter the new R25. Still in concept form, the new 250cc bike has made its debut in Tokyo, with a launch expected in 2014.
Yamaha R25 concept's design looks track focused. Much like its larger brethrens the R1 and the R6. The R25 is powered by a 250cc parallel twin cylinder engine and is styled like a typical Yamaha.

It does have resemblance with the R15, in the way the fairing and the tail looks, but the rest is more reminiscent of an older generation R1. The concept bike uses a tubular frame rather than steel spars used by the R15.
The few things that will not make into production version will be the headlamps (or rather it will have one), the race spec seats, the large air intakes, the Akrapovic exhaust unit and of course, the race livery.
There is not much in the form of details for now, except the following description from Yamaha.
"A superbike you can ride every day is the development concept behind the R25, a 250cc sport bike mounting a newly developed in-line 2-cylinder engine on a lightweight, slim and compact chassis that shares its look with the YZR-M1" MotoGP machine."
"It boasts a powerful and sporty ride in the high rpm range while being easy to handle. The R25 is positioned and offered as an entry-model in the sport bike category for developed markets like Japan and Europe, and as a top performance sport bike for emerging markets, primarily throughout Asia."
