Frankfurt - Suzuki iV-4 Compact SUV Concept 'Grabs Your Field'
If you have been following us you'll remember that Suzuki had teased a compact SUV concept earlier this year. Called the Suzuki iV-4, the concept has debuted at the 65th IAA Frankfurt Auto Show 2013. What should be noted is that this is not a stuy, but Suzuki actually plans on introducing the production version in the not too distant future.
According to Suzuki, the iV-4 compact SUV concept "embodies a new automotive idea: the personal compact SUV." As such, the iV-4 has been placed in between the Grand Vitara and the Jimny. Suzuki has not mentioned India as the launch market, but it is likely to be introduced here soon after.

Suzuki is a mid-sized SUV. For perspective, it is larger than the EcoSport. The dimensions are as follows:
- Overall length 4,215 (mm)
- Overall width 1,850 (mm)
- Overall height 1,665 (mm)
- Wheelbase 2,500 (mm)
- Tyre size 235/55R20

Suzuki has designed the compact SUV concept based, on what it calls, ‘Grab your field' theme. The SUV is clearly meant to be rugged and tough, rather than a mellow urban crossover.

The vehicle's character becomes clear from its name. The name iV-4 comes from the following definitions: "i" stands for "individuality", "V" for "vehicle", and "4" for "4 wheel-drive" The 4WD drive will come with Suzuki's ALLGRIP technology.

Some of the design cues include the straight, sleek lines, clamshell hood, five slotted front grille, the fog lamps with built-in laser sensor on the roof and the illuminated grille.

Suzuki says, customers will be able to customize their iV-4 compact SUV as per their likes, through personalized colours, textures and individual choice of exterior parts.

Production of iV-4 compact SUV will initially begin at Magyar Suzuki in 2015. The vehicle will make its first appearance across Europe.
