KTM RC200 & RC125 At EICMA: Specifications, Features & Details
EICMA is the Mecca for motorcycle enthusiasts and manufacturers from around the world. This year's EICMA has been the most relevant to India in the 71 years its been running. Arguably, the most relevant news (in the short term basis) coming from Milan right now is that of the RC200 and its larger sibling RC390.
The 2014 RC200 and RC125 are part of the new additions to KTM's Supersport lineup which now also includes the RC390, apart from the RC 1190 RC8 R. Browse through the slides for official images and details about the new bikes.

KTM's new RC390, RC200 & RC125 are fully faired versions of the Duke naked bike range, bred for a sole purpose - racing.

As such, these bikes provide superior racing performance, improved agility and the ability to lean the bike to extreme angles, more than you could do with a Duke.

Engine output from the RC200 and RC 125 respectively are as follows: 25 HP at 10,000 rpm and 17.62 Nm torque at 8,000 rpm and 15 HP at 9,500 rpm and 12.2 Nm torque at 8,000 rpm.

While the engines deliver the same amount of power as the Dukes power delivery via the 6 speed transmission has been tweaked to accommodate faster shifting.

The same trellis frame holds the RC200 & the RC125 together, but KTM says the rigidity of the chassis has been increased to withstand stress during track use.

The chassis geometry has been modified to improve balance and accommodate a more aggressive riding position.

The RC200 and RC125 also have steeper steering heads, less trial and shorter wheelbase keeping in mind their sporty nature.

The lightweight frame, despite the added weight of the fairings has allowed KTM to maintain the featherweight characteristics of the bikes. The RC200 and RC125 weight 137 kg and 135 kg respectively. They are, however, heavier than their Duke counterparts.

Suspensions, sourced from WP, have less travel and stiffer settings making the bikes more suitable for track use.

The front forks have a diameter of 43 mm (even RC125) which is the same as the Superbike 1190 RC8 R superbike.

The race spec Metzeler tyres measure 110/70ZR17 front and 150/60ZR17 rear.

The new RC390, RC200 and RC125 have more in common with each other compared to similarities shared between 390 Duke, 200 Duke and 125 Duke. The main differentiating factor are the engine displacements.

2014 KTM RC200 will be launched in India alongside the RC390 at the Auto Expo 2014 in mid-Feb. As for the RC125, we do not have high hopes for smaller bike to make it to Indian roads despite the fact that they will be manufactured by Bajaj in Pune.
