School Children Above 16 Could Get Non-Gear Two Wheeler Licence
The traffic police department, during a special conference held in Indoor, attended by school representatives, has put forth a suggestion relating to issuing special non-gear two-wheeler licence to school students aged above 16 years.
The traffic police department proposed that the licence be issued through a special agreement between the RTO and school administration. The proposal was part of discussions held during the seminar that was concerned with the safety of school children commuting to school.
Besides the issue of automatic two-wheeler licences, the attendees also discussed three other important safety related matter for school children.

The first was to ascertain teachers, principals, parents and auto drivers were aware of safety guidelines for vehicles transporting school children.
"The guidelines passed in 2011 by high court, 2013 by CBSE administration and in March 2014 by Indore collector clearly specify how children should be transported. The vehicle should be authorized and must have a school permit, it should have 'On School Duty' stamped on it, it should have a first aid kit and should not seat more than five children. School bags should not hang outside the vehicle and children should not be made to sit on each other's lap," said Tiwari, as reported by ET.
The second pertained to schools maintaining details of all vehicles and their drivers involved in transporting school children, including private vehicles, and not alloying students driving two-wheelers without licence and permits to enter school premises.
The third matter discussed was formation of traffic safety committees in schools and organizing traffic awareness activities throughout the year to make students aware of traffic rules.
Representatives from over 40 schools in Indoor participated in the seminar, which was presided over by the District education officer Sanjay Goyal, RTO Jitendra Raghuvansi and DSP traffic Vikram Raghvanshi.
