Honda CB Shine To Come From Karnataka Facility
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is remodelling its Karnataka plant, from where it will manufacture the 125cc CB Shine.
The company owned by Japanese giant Honda are manufacturing their current models from its Tapukara plant, which is in Rajasthan.
The Karnataka plant has a capacity to produce 12 lakh units yearly. It currently rolls out the Dream Series motorbike and Activa scooters.
HMSI Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Y S Guleria explains,"It is a strategic decision taken by the company. In order to cater to the demand for the CB Shine, we are coming up with changes in our Bangalore facility. So CB Shine will become the fourth model to roll out from the Bangalore facility."
He further adds, "In FY13-14, our target is to sell 39.3 lakh units. Due to changes being affected at the Karnataka plant, we may not be able to achieve the target. But it is going to be very, very close."
The company has sold 27.55 lakh units in fiscal year 2012-2013. HMSI's production capacity in
December was 40 lakh units from three plants around the country. Honda has 2,500 outlets and is planning an expansion of its network by entering tier-III cities.
The company posted an increase in sales of 30 per cent in April-December. It has also joined hands with Pogo channel to promote road safety among children.
HMSI President & CEO Keita Muramatsu said the following,"HMSI has further built its commitment towards road safety by associating with Pogo and popular character Chhota Bheem. Honda, together with Chhota Bheem, shall spread the message on importance of road safety across the country."
