Honda's New 160cc Motorcycle For India In 2015 Could Be The CX-01
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd's (HMSI) recently concluded 13th Annual Business meet was unusual in the sense that it was a grander event than usual. For the first time, the meet of the Indian subsidy was held in Japan.
This also gave HMSI's business partners and their families, who attended the meet, a chance to experience Japanese culture and legacy, and have a fun time in general.
The reason behind the unusual meet was this. Starting June, 2014, HMSI intends to start a "New Era" in India.

As part of this, several new initiatives and developments will take place, an important one being addition of 1000 new showrooms to its existing network.
Explaining how Honda will make inroads into hinterlands, Mr. Y. S Guleria, Vice President - Sales & Marketing, HMSI said, "Reaching closer to customer is a priority. Moving full throttle with scorching pace, Honda will add 1000 new touch-points to its network. This translates to adding a phenomenal 3 outlets each day and is significant as with this expansion, Honda will double its network in just 2 years from 1950 outlets in FY'2012-13 to 3800 outlets by end of FY'2014-15."
Honda will also target sales of 45 lakh units with sustained momentum of 21% growth.
The other half of the plan is the launch of two new motorcycles in the second quarter of financial year 2015.
The first will be a new Dream series commuter bike model, the range that at present consists of the Dream Neo and Dream Yuga.
The second is a more exciting 160cc model. Honda says this will be a "stylish & sporty motorcycles for youngsters." We cannot help but think about the Honda CX-01 Concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014.
The CX-01 perfectly fits the description as a model that will be built in India, for India. The CX-01 Concept was relatively compact which would suit a 160cc engine. The bike was also characterized by features such as high ground clearance and ride height for city ride, along with a right balance of sportiness.
Honda CX-01 Concept was universally admired at the Auto Expo and we hope it is brought to life with minimal changes.
