Erik Buell Racing 1190SX Revealed
Erik Buell Racing, Hero MotoCorp's partially owned U.S partner, has unveiled a new streetfighter category motorcycle based on its 1190RX superbike. The 2015 Erik Buell Racing 1190SX, as it is called, made its debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Being a naked version of the 1190RX, the 1190SX naturally comes without the fairing, but in addition, it also gets a few mechanical modifications to differentiate it from the superbike and make it better suit the different riding conditions it will be used in.
Specifications are yet to be released, but the bike surely powered by the superbike's 1190cc V-Twin engine that produces 185 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. The engine likely carries modifications to make it deliver higher mid-range torque rather than at the higher-end.
Other features from the superbike, such as the massive ZTL 386mm disc brake, magnesium subframe with fuel-in-frame design, full-color TFT instruments panel, multi-level traction control have been carried over.
The LED headlights naturally has a different design. The 1190SX also replaces the clip-on handlebars with a more comfortable tubular handlebar. The seat also seems to have received more padding as the rider will spend more time on roads than on tracks.
Specification details about the 1190SX will be revealed on July 4.
