Yamaha Celebrates 70 Years with YZF-R15 Price Reduction in India
Yamaha Motor India has reduced the prices of its most popular entry-level sport motorcycle, the Yamaha YZF‑R15, by up to 5,000. The move comes as part of Yamaha's 70th global anniversary celebrations, with the brand offering limited-period price benefits on the YZF-R15 range in India.
Yamaha R15 Prices Dropped
The R15 has become the face of Yamaha in India since its introduction and has been ruling the entry-level supersport segment for more than a decade. The Yamaha R15 is currently sold in three variants: R15S, R15 V4, and the top-of-the-line R15 M. With the 70th anniversary celebration offer, prices across the R15 lineup have been reduced.

The brand celebrated its 70th anniversary by introducing a limited R3 70th Anniversary Edition in markets such as the USA, Europe, and Australia. This special edition features an exclusive red-and-white livery, while the mechanical components remain unchanged. Based on this, Yamaha is also expected to introduce a 70th Anniversary Edition of the R15 in India, which could make it a unique and collectible offering.
The R15S now starts at 1,51,500 (ex-showroom, Karnataka), placing it at a similar price point to Yamaha's neo-retro offering, the Yamaha XSR 155. The R15 V4 is priced at 1.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Karnataka), while the premium R15 M variant costs 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Karnataka).

All variants are powered by a tried-and-tested 155cc single-cylinder, SOHC, VVA, liquid-cooled engine. This motor produces 18.4 PS of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
However, buyers should note that these reduced prices are available only for a limited period. All R15 models are fully-faired motorcycles and feature an aerodynamic sporty visor, full LED lighting, a muscular fuel tank, and revised ergonomic seats.

In terms of equipment, the R15 range offers premium features such as USD front forks, a traction control system, an assist and slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, a side-stand engine cut-off switch, and a fully digital instrument cluster with call, SMS, and email alerts.
Additionally, reports suggest that Yamaha could introduce a more powerful R2 motorcycle in India during the upcoming festive season. The R2 is expected to feature a 200cc engine, follow a design philosophy similar to the R15, and be manufactured in India, with exports planned for overseas markets.
