Yamaha NMax 155 India Launch Likely By 2027 - To Rival Honda's Upcoming ADV160
Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha is actively working to bring the NMax 155 maxi-scooter to the Indian market by 2027, claims a new report by Autocar India. The scooter was first showcased at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, signalling Yamaha's intent to expand its premium scooter lineup beyond the Aerox 155.
The NMax 155 shares its powertrain with the Aerox but takes a decidedly different approach in terms of design, ergonomics, and feature content. When launched, it is expected to go up against the Honda ADV160 and Hero Xoom 160 in the growing maxi-scooter segment.

Yamaha NMax 155 - Same Engine As Aerox, Different Character
Powering the NMax is the same 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit found in the Aerox, producing 15hp at 8,000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Since the Aerox is already E20-compliant, the NMax is expected to follow suit for its India debut.
Like the Aerox, the NMax uses an underbone frame with a prominent spine section, which eliminates floorboard storage. Underseat boot capacity stands at 25 litres, edging past the Aerox's 24.5 litres and notably larger than the Hero Xoom 160's 22-litre unit.

Yamaha NMax 155 - Spec Differences Compared To The Aerox
Suspension duties on the Yamaha NMax 155 are handled by a telescopic fork and twin gas-charged rear shock absorbers, with 100mm of front travel and 91mm at the rear. The rear units are not shared with the Aerox and are specifically tuned for the NMax.
The NMax rolls on 13-inch wheels at both ends, smaller than the Aerox's 14-inch units. Seat height is a lower 770mm against the Aerox's 790mm, while the wheelbase measures 1,340mm, 10mm shorter than the Aerox's 1,350mm.
Kerb weight with the 7.1-litre fuel tank brimmed is 135kg, approximately 10kg more than the Aerox, which runs a smaller 5.5-litre tank. Ground clearance is listed at 125mm, likely a laden figure, comparable to how the XSR155's figures were quoted at its launch.

Yamaha NMax 155 - Features And Equipment
The feature list on the Yamaha NMax 155 is extensive, covering a 4.2-inch Bluetooth-compatible colour TFT display, keyless ignition, all-LED lighting, and a fuel-saving start/stop system.
Two storage cubbies sit on the front apron, an open unit on the left and a closed one on the right. Whether Yamaha trims this feature list for India to manage pricing remains to be confirmed.
Yamaha NMax 155 - Expected Price
The Yamaha NMax 155 is expected to carry a premium over the Aerox, which is currently priced between Rs 1.43 lakh and Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). We expect the NMax to carry a premium of around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 over the Aerox with the added equipment, larger storage space, and expensive feature list expected to justify the anticipated price difference between the two premium scooter offerings from Yamaha.
