Yamaha NMax 155 Could Launch In India Soon – Feature-Packed Maxi Scooter Incoming

Yamaha could bring the NMax 155 maxi-scooter to the Indian market alongside the upcoming R2. This premium maxi-scooter is already on sale across several European and Southeast Asian countries and has gained popularity for its practicality, comfort and performance.

This year, Yamaha has already launched the EC-06 electric scooter in India. Now, the company is reportedly preparing to introduce the Yamaha YZF-R2, which could be positioned as a more powerful version to the highly successful R15.

Both motorcycles are expected to be sold alongside each other, as the R15 continues to be one of the most popular motorcycles among young riders. The R2 could be powered by a larger 200cc engine producing around 21-24 bhp of power and 18-20 Nm of torque.

Alongside this motorcycle, Yamaha could also introduce the NMax 155 maxi-scooter to further expand its premium two-wheeler portfolio in India. Yamaha is already selling the Aerox 155, a sporty maxi-style scooter powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled engine.

The model has gained a strong following in urban markets thanks to its performance-oriented character. With a more mature styling package and greater focus on comfort, the NMax 155 could arrive in India by late 2026 or early 2027.

The NMax 155 is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces around 15 bhp of power and 14 Nm of torque. This makes it one of the most powerful entry-level maxi-scooters available globally. The model has remained one of Yamaha's best-selling scooters in several international markets for more than a decade.

Now could be the right time for Yamaha to introduce this premium maxi-scooter to the Indian market, where demand for comfortable and feature-rich scooters continues to grow. Suzuki has already achieved considerable success with the Burgman Street 125, highlighting the strong potential of the maxi-scooter segment.

The NMax 155 also comes loaded with advanced features and technology. Highlights include riding modes, a 4.2-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, an all-LED lighting setup, dual-channel ABS, disc brakes, dual rear shock absorbers, handlebar-mounted switch controls, a stepped two-level seat and a smart key system.

If launched, the NMax 155 is expected to be priced slightly above the Yamaha Aerox 155, which is currently priced at around Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom). It would compete with models such as the Suzuki Burgman Street 125, Yamaha Aerox 155, Aprilia SXR 160 and Hero Xoom 160.
